Rare Beautiful Original 1960 Blonde Barbie #3 or #4 Ponytail 850 Nipple TM Body Picture(s) and Description:
1960 Blonde Number 3 or 4 Barbie Ponytail Hello! I hope you are excited about this auction! This auction is for a 1960 Blonde Number 3 or 4 Barbie Ponytail with a nippled TM body. I bought this doll recently at a thrift store while shopping with visiting relatives. I was strolling down one of the toy aisles with my 4 year old daughter when I spotted an intriguing case for sale. I admit, I had one of those "Auction Kings/American Pickers" moments where I felt that I had stumbled across something that might make me a little extra money. This 1960 Blonde Barbie #3 or #4 Ponytail was in a 1960's Barbie Ponytail Doll case with a few Ken outfits and a couple of other dolls and accessories. Through my research I have determined that this is indeed either a #3 or #4 and is all original. If you are interested in this Barbie, I assume you know more about it than I do. I will be auctioning the other items in the next few days. Please take a look at the pictures. I took them outside, in the shade with a white poster board as a background to help you see the coloring better. I did not use a flash and did not enhance the photos. I am not a collector, and my knowledge of Barbie is only as deep as the research I have done the past few days to try and identify this Barbie. Therefore, I have posted several pictures for you to look at. If there are any questions, or if you would like to see more pics--just let me know! This auction comes exactly as pictured. Here are the details that I used to identify it as a 1960 Ponytail #3 or #4:-Soft poodle hair-Solid torso-Barbie™/Pats.Pend./©MCMLVIII/by Mattel/Inc buttock markings-Japan on bottom of right foot-TM nippled body Here is why I don't know if it is a #3 or #4:-When I opened the box, it appeared to have been closed up for decades. It smelled like opening a 50 year old time capsule--not the greatest smell. All the items in the box still maintained vivid colors. That is why I cannot tell from the color (which is what I assume is the only way to distinguish the two) whether or not it is a #3 or #4. I was not able to research and determine if a #3 was unexposed to much light if it would maintain more color. -The pictures of supposedly authentic #3's that I found on the web, varied significantly in color. A few unprofessional evaluations:-My first impression when I opened the box was that it had not been opened in decades.-The joints all seem to be tight as if it has not seen much use.-All fingers look good, and feet as well.-The hair appears to not have been cut or tampered with much.-Seems that it was taken care of, and I am still shocked that it is over 50 years old!-No cuts, tears, or punctures-I left the hair as I found it Shipping: $9.99 USPS Priority Mail to the lower 48. I will ship within two business days of payment.Payment: PayPal is accepted. Please make a prompt payment after auction concludes. Thanks in advance!Return Information: Because of the nature of this auction I am not allowing a return so please bid carefully and ask questions that you may have. As I said before, if you need additional photos etc., please let me know and I will be happy to oblige you. Once again, I am not a collector (I'm a Dad) therefore I apologize that I do not know with certainty whether this is a #3 or #4. I am trusting that if you are a serious bidder that will know the difference, or that you will have the right questions to ask me that will help you to know for certain which it is. Instead of spending another whole day trying to figure it out, I determined ot let the bidding experts decide. I look forward to hearing more from you experts. Thanks for looking and holler if you have any questions! Blessings!
